When the doors of bookshops close forever, others open. Here are pictures of three old paper and scrap sellers who have grabbed the opportunity to expand their collection of old books. They are from Waroda Road, Bandra (Mumbai) and Aaram Nagar, Versova (Mumbai)
Reuse. Recycle. Reread.
Across all these shops, one thing is clear, magazines are dead. There are very few of them these days.
They are also a great place to look at the reading habits of the people in an area. For example, the one in Aaram Nagar has quite a few Hindi language books to choose from reflecting its status as the heart of independent filmmaking in Mumbai (my guess).
