Recently I happened to listen to a poet who writes and sings in the Agri language which is one of the dialects of Marathi spoken in the Greater Mumbai region. He was talking at an event organised by New City Limits / Council for Arts & Social Practice (CASP) at DesignWorks, Sanpada, Navi Mumbai.
He is popular in the coastal districts of Thane, Raigad and Mumbai for his protest poetry which talks about the life and struggles of the coastal communities living here and their lives and memories being swallowed by the expanding tricities – Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai.
Watch video of his poetry
Here are a few images from the event.

The Agri language is spoken widely across the Northern Konkan region of Maharashtra.
